Thank you Booksale!

I'm so grateful that Booksale still sells those old comics from the 80s and 90s. You'll never imagine what treasures you'll discover there.


I visited the Booksale branch in SM Centerpoint the other week and guess what I found....



Copies of Dave Louapre and Dan Sweetman's Beautiful Stories for Ugly Children!

There are 30 issues in the series and Booksale sells around ten of those issues. I used to have a dozen of them back in college. The stories are interesting but a bit bizarre. The art evokes a certain strangeness and eccentricity to the characters and the plot. But I gave the comics away to a friend of mine as a Christmas present.





But since I found some back issues in Booksale, I decided to buy them all. Now I'll get a chance to reread these stories and hopefully be inspired by them.

Pre-X Mas Adventures in Divisoria

Christmas is around the corner. And people are doing their holiday shopping at Divisoria again. It's traffic hell there. People pushing people. People's feet getting run over by pedicabs. I hate it. But I have to bear with the peddlers and the shoppers. I'm sure the shops and restaurants there are earning tons of money right now (and until the holidays).









Went to 168 last week and took some pictures of the food there. The food is affordable (everyone loves ordering the large pancit plate which is good for like 2 to 3 people, except the fact that the food tastes bland).










Of course, amidst the bargain sales and the cheap goods, the squatters and beggars are there, thriving. People just ignore them, but they are there. I managed to take a picture of a group of boys swimming in one of the dirty canals in Divisoria. (And if you have been to Divisoria, you know how dirty these canals are).
