There is an exercise in the manual, teaching you how to develop vector drawings of mechanical objects using geometric shapes. Then you create copies of the shapes, altering their colors and shades a bit.
The drawing took a few hours to make, but I only did the exercise during my free time so it took me two weeks to complete.
At least I now know how to create computer chips using Illustrator.
