After telling them the advantages and benefits of using digital camera, they finally agreed to use one. We helped them take sample shots while shopping at Glorietta and Rockwell. So far they have taken a couple of good pictures, and they are amazed with the capacity of the camera to store over a thousand photographs (thanks to a 1 GB SD card). The next thing we’re teaching them is how to charge the camera.
The whole experience made me think about an old e-learning tutorial our team made several months ago. It was a teaching demo, aimed to introduce the benefits of digital cameras to older people (ages 60 up).
The tutorial was supposed to highlight the advantages of a digital camera, as compared to a film camera. One of our team member wrote the script for the course, another one did the storyboard and the graphics. I was the one who proofread and transferred the contents into the authoring tool (Exe-learning).
The final output was generated from Exe learning into a SCORM compliant html output. Unfortunately, the project was shelved shortly afterwards. Too bad though, I thought the course had a lot of potential. I could have used the course for my parents and let them appreciate the wonders of digital technology.
